The Abierto GNP Seguros also known as the Monterrey Open is coming up over the next week and will be shown worldwide wherever you reside. Taking place between August 18-24 and the week before the US Open, it will feature up to 10 of the 32 seeds for Flushing Meadows.
Emma Navarro, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Diana Shnaider lead the field as the only top 20 players in the draw but outside of that there is a myriad of top names who are involved in Mexico. Leylah Fernandez and former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin are also set to be involved. The Canadian fresh off winning the title in Washington.
Navarro in particular is a curious case given that the American was due to play mixed doubles at the US Open but after poor recent form it seems she is wanting ranking points and games over the exhibition event. She withdrew leaving Jannik Sinner in a predicament either find a new partner or withdraw as he has reached the Cincinnati final.
Linda Noskova, Donna Vekic and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova are also among those involved. As well as Anna Kalinskaya who reached the Quarter-Finals this past week in Cincinnati backing up a great few weeks. She complained though heavily about the scheduling so will hope for better this time around. She is also joined by the likes of Beatriz Haddad Maia, Rebecca Sramkova, Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova as of time of writing in a high quality field in what is also a WTA 500 event so a lot to play for.
In the USA, the tournament will be shown in full on Tennis Channel. Sky Sports show the tournament in United Kingdom, Ireland; Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, South Tyrol; Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, South Tyrol. While Australia it is shown on beIN Sports, in New Zealand it is shown on DAZN. beIN Sports also show the event in France. Canal+ will also show the tournament with the channel only not showing the events in Nottingham, Iasi, Sao Paolo, Wuhan, Guangzhou and Jiujiang. Eleven Sports shows the event in Portugal.
