The
Wuhan Open is one of the staples on the WTA Tour, with the 2025 edition expected to some of tennis' top superstars. Despite being introduced just over 10 years ago, the crowd-pleasing event has never failed to produce exceptional gameplay as the WTA season comes to an end.
A WTA 1000 event, the Wuhan Open will see 56 singles players and 28 doubles teams congregate in Wuhan, China for the annual tournament. Scheduled to run from October 6-12, the Wuhan Open will be broadcast internationally as several top-ranked WTA stars will be competing for the prestigious title.
World No.1
Aryna Sabalenka will hope to make her return to the tour after winning the US Open a few weeks ago. The big-hitting Belarusian opted to skip the China Open to recuperate from a minor injury sustained in New York.
Fans will be eager to see Sabalenka extend her historic run in Wuhan, as the 27-year old is the three-time defending champion at the event. Based on her impressive form, it will be hard to see someone dethrone the tennis powerhouse as she aims to strengthen her grip on the year-end World No.1 ranking.
Several former Grand Slam champions join the field
Sabalenka will face some stiff competition if she hopes to retain her title. Reigning Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek has been confirmed for the event, in addition to 2025 Roland Garros winner Coco Gauff.
Additionally, reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys is competing at Wuhan. The American will be joined by compatriots Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula. Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka and former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina will look to continue their resurgent season as they have also been confirmed for the WTA 1000 event.
With so many talented players competing in Wuhan, fans will not want to miss a single moment of action. Below is how you can catch watch the event worldwide.
