The Asian swing of the ATP calendar will be in full effect when the China Open kicks off, with the tournament set to run from September 25 to October 1, 2025, in Beijing, China.
An ATP 500 event, the China Open is one of the largest tennis events in Asia. Beloved by fans, the tournament will feature a singles field of 32 players and a doubles event with 16 teams.
Top-ranked ATP stars often frequent the event to showcase their skills in front of adoring fans, with several tennis players listing Beijing as one of their favorite destinations. Hosted at the Beijing Olympic Green Tennis Center, which was constructed for the 2008 Olympic Games, the venue features 11 courts, including one with a retractable roof.
Although Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion, he will not be competing at this year's edition. Therefore, a new champion will be crowned, with last year's runner-up and World No.1 Jannik Sinner the favorite to take home the title.

Familiar faces to join the field in Beijing

Sinner will have the opportunity to win his second title in Beijing, after prevailing in 2023. However, the Italian will have to get past an in-form Alexander Zverev, who claims to be on the verge of figuring out the World No.1.
Russian Daniil Medvedev is scheduled to compete in Beijing, and he will be joined by compatriots Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev. Australian ace Alex de Minaur has also been listed as a participant, in addition to Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas.
French veteran Gael Monfils is scheduled to compete at the event, as the 38-year old begins to wind down his career. The former World No.6 will lead countrymen Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Corentin Moutet, with one of them hoping to bring home the trophy.
The always-entertaining Alexander Bublik will be vying for the title, in addition to Italians Lorenzo Musetti and Flavio Cobolli. Below is the list of entrants.

Predictions

Samuel Gill, Head Editor of TennisUpToDate.com sees Alexander Zverev being crowned champion.
Going a bit rogue here going into the China Open but Alexander Zverev screams out to me amid the Jannik Sinner of it all who will be a big favourite.
But these tournaments never really go to type and Zverev is the type of player who takes advantage. It would be very typical ATP also for Alcaraz to win in Japan and for Sinner to not follow suit in Beijing.
Also he could very well just withdraw. Others I'd pick out are Lorenzo Musetti who is playing this week in Chengdu as well as Jakub Mensik, Daniil Medvedev and of course Alexander Bublik who seems to always do well in these events. Also the giant killer himself Karen Khachanov.
