"I always did love Australia" - Williams leaves future officially undecided after US Open exit

Serena Williams said that the 2022 US Open will be her final event however she left it ambiguous after losing to Tomljanovic.

She refused to officially call it quits a couple of times before the US Open despite suggesting that this would be it. She did the same after losing to Tomljanovic when a reporter asked her:

“I don't know. I'm not thinking about that. I always did love Australia, though (smiling)."

She continued by explaining that she came a long way since Wimbledon and she's just not sure whether this is really it or not:

"But yeah, you know what, I've come a long way since last year at Wimbledon. Just not sure if that was my last moment or not. Making it a different moment I think is much better. Yeah, and it takes a lot of work to get here. Clearly I'm still capable. It takes a lot more than that. I'm ready to, like, be a mom, explore a different version of Serena."

Many do expect that this will be it from Serena, especially if decides to have another child which seems in the cards. It was a fine farewell either way.
