America’s
Danielle Collins has lauded the efforts of anti-doping
agencies in keeping the sport clean.
The tennis world has found itself divided after the former world
number one
Simona Halep received a four-year ban after testing positive for roxadustat
during last year’s US Open.
Collins became the latest player to express her view about
the recent developments where she lauded the efforts of the anti-doping agencies
to keep the sport clean.
"You know, I think it's important that we have,” she said.
“You know, the anti-doping agency, and the different agencies that come to test
us. And, you know, I appreciate everything that they're doing in trying to keep
our sport clean.”
However, the 29-year-old also admitted that it is becoming a
challenge for players to keep track of their supplement usage.
"It can be difficult to keep up with our supplements,” she
said. “But you know, that's the biggest problem we're facing as athletes.”
Halep, who has not played a single professional tennis match
at the highest level, has already announced that she will appeal against the decision
in the Court of Arbitration in Sports (CAS).
The 31-year-old has an impressive record as she has won two
Grand Slam titles — French Open in 2018 and Wimbledon in 2019 — in her career.
She also became the world number one in October 2017.
