Former world number two Petra Kvitova has stated that she got
what she expected while playing against Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki.
The two came face-to-face in the second-round fixture of the
US Open 2023 where the former world number one came out on top in straight sets
with a score of 7-5, 7-6.
Kvitova, while talking to the media after the match, stated that
she expected a tough outing against Wozniacki and that’s exactly what she got.
“It’s always tough to play Caro,” she said. “Even though she
didn’t play for a few years, it didn’t feel like she’s been away. It was a big
fight tonight. She played good tennis. That’s what I expected. That’s what she
showed.”
Wozniacki has recently come out of retirement after a break of
more than three years and therefore, this result was truly a special one for
her.
