Mysterious illness is wreaking havoc on the ongoing
US Open
2023 with players complaining of feeling unwell.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year is currently
underway in New York where players from all over the world are participating to showcase
their talent.
However, the tournament is being affected by a mysterious illness
which has impacted a number of players.
Former world number three Austria’s
Dominic Thiem had to
eventually retire from his second-round fixture against America’s Ben Shelton
complaining of abdominal pain. He was also seen throwing up before the match
started.
Earlier, Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori was also ruled out of the
competition ahead of his first-round fixture against Russia’s Andrey Rublev because
of feeling sick.
America’s Christopher Eubanks also struggled with illness
during the second-round defeat to France’s Benjamin Bonzi. The game ended with
a score of 7-6, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6.
Tunisia’s star player
Ons Jabeur also struggled during her
first-round match against Colombia’s Camila Osorio where she was clearly having
breath issues and was seen coughing multiple times as well.
The development left a lot of tennis fans perplexed and they
expressed their opinion on social media about it.
