Britain’s veteran tennis star
Andy Murray believes America’s
John Isner has the best service of all time.
The 38-year-old’s journey in the ongoing
US Open came to an
end after he suffered a defeat in the second round to fellow American Michael Mmoh
with a score of 3-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4, 7-6. With that, his journey in the singles
category also came to an end.
Murray was quoted recently where he heaped praise on Isner
and believes that his service is the best of all time.
“I believe he has the best serve in the history of the game,”
said the former world number one. “Amazing technique. First & second serves,
he could do everything with it. In terms of his game, I’d remember that it’s
the best serve ever to play.
“I’ve had discussions with people from previous eras. Some
people may disagree. But I believe he has the best serve of all time. I think
the stats show that as well.”
Murray, just like Isner, has also seen his US Open campaign
come to an end after suffering a defeat to Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov with a
score of 6-3, 6-4, 6-1.
It will be interesting to see whether Murray will return to
playing at the Flashing Medows as just like Isner, there are already doubts
whether he will be fit enough to participate at the highest level in 12 months’
time.
