Andy Murray admits that his tennis future is definitely under consideration going forward after defeat to Grigor Dimitrov on Thursday at the
US Open.
Murray after a magical display at times against Corentin Moutet lost to Dimitrov 3-6, 4-6, 1-6 with the 19th seed despite seeing off Alex Molcan in a marathon still battling his way through.
Speaking to David Law on BBC Radio 5 Live, the question of his future came up with Murray set for some soul searching as while he is rising still in the rankings, he is wondering whether it is worth it based off performances and results.
"I don't know really. Right now, probably not. I mean, at Wimbledon, I did feel I was close and actually when I properly reflected on the event, I was close to potentially having a really good run there," said Murray on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"But here no. Obviously in terms of my performance today, I was far away. Even if I'd played a lower-ranked player or whatever, there's certainly no guarantees I would win if I played at that level.
"So yeah, I'm quite far away from doing what it is I would like to do. I need to decide whether the performances and the results that I'm having are worth it. I am still moving forwards from a ranking perspective, so that's a positive thing, but I do want to be performing better at the big events."
