For a few weeks now,
Daniil Medvedev was in a love affair with clay courts after playing some good tennis on them including a trophy at the Rome Masters.
The Russian has traditionally held a really big dislike for clay courts calling the courts damaged among other things. In line with his dislike came the performances on them as well as he really didn't play that well on them. That's until recently or rather this year when he promised to try and do better on them and he did
He played fair in several events eventually winning the trophy at the Rome Masters recently. He jokingly said a few times during that time that he loves clay which seems unlikely even with the success.
Still disliking clay
After suffering an early exit from Roland Garros, Medvedev confirmed that he still has a dislike for claycourts by admitting that he he's happy the clay season is over:
"Every time the clay-court season ends, I am happy. I don't know if people like to have clay in their bags, in their shoes. The socks, white socks, you can throw them to garbage after clay season. Maybe some people like it. I don't."
