After Emma Raducanu made history by becoming the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam at the 2021 US Open, fellow British star Katie Boulter believes the act will never happen again.
Raducanu has received a lot of flak from fans online following her subpar performances after the US Open victory, prompting Boulter to come her her compatriot's defense.
"If we didn’t have Emma then I don’t think that these girls would be pushing through and I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from her," said the new British No.1. "What she did was absolutely incredible and I don’t think It’ll ever be emulated again.
"It was quite the moment and she’s a very special girl. I tried to take a lot of inspiration and tried to do what she was doing."
Raducanu recently underwent double wrist surgery, and will miss this year's Wimbledon and possibly US Open.
