Iga Swiatek saw off Yulia Putintseva with ease at times, but not at others as she produced a 6-3, 6-4 win to reach the Last 16 at the Rome Open where she will face Angelique Kerber. But was left bemused by a pretty bizarre question about Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
The journalist in question asked Swiatek to explain the fact that despite being World No.1, the attention is all on Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. A sucker punch in itself, Swiatek tried to explain it the best way she could before admitting that she doesn't understand the question. The transcript hit social media with fans as bemused as Swiatek.
But also calling for the names of the journalists to be given in a move to likely give out criticism to those asking these questions. "Well I don't know if that was a punch or not. I think there is some attention on me, but I totally understand why Rafa and Novak, they have such a huge fan base. It's not like I'm jealous or something. Well it's Rafa's last tournament, not last, but last tournament in Rome possibly. I get why people are focusing on watching him," said Swiatek.
"Novak, obviously he's the GOAT` as well. I don't understand the question honestly."
