Through the whole process of her retirement, Serena Williams refused to call it a retirement but rather an evolution and after dropping another comeback hint, fans are spotting a trend.
Serena Williams announced her retirement from tennis as an evolution rather than a final goodbye to tennis and never fully shut down the notion of a comeback. She did say she wants to be a mother again and that would certainly keep her away from the court for a good year or even more making a comeback highly unlikely.
However, she still enjoys toying with the idea and even admitted that she could come back if she really wanted to:
“As a super hands-on mom, I can’t tell you how hard it was. I lost so many matches after I had Olympia because it was so hard to be on the court. I feel like I’ve given so much of my life to tennis, my entire life, that it’s time to do something different for me and also work on other things. I feel like if I want to come back, I definitely can still come back."
As she noted above coming back from giving birth is not only hard physically but also mentally. However, as she said, she could do it if she really wanted to. Time will tell if she's actually going to do it.
