Felix Auger-Aliassime put on a serving clinic to take down
Novak Djokovic 6-3 7-6(3) and give team World its first lead of the event 10-8.
What a match this was for Felix Auger-Aliassime who stunned Novak Djokovic with an impressive display. The Canadian was superb on his serve all day giving one of the best returners of all time problems all day long. Not only did he serve well he was cleaning the lines with both his forehand and backhand all day long.
Djokovic did not play his best match, certainly nowhere near as good as he played against Tiafoe but he was also easily outplayed by the Canadian. It was an aggressive display from Auger-Aliassime but he needed to do that in order to win and he did.
Auger lost his serve in the first game of the match but quickly bounced back thanks to some aggressive play that caught Djokovic off guard. He was able to break Djokovic once more towards the end of the set taking it 6-3. He started off the second set 2-0 but gave it back not long after.
In the second set tiebreak, Auger once again proved better taking it 7-3 and after the match he even admitted that this might have been the best match he ever played in his career. Team World now leads 10-8 with two more matches to be played. They never won the
Laver Cup before.
