Emma Navarro saved a multitude of match points to survive in Tennis Paradise with the 10th seed edging out Sorana Cirstea 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(3) to advance to the third round of the Indian Wells Open and joked her team will be getting it after the match.

Navarro and Cirstea battled for nearly two and a half hours on court as the former came back from 3-5 down in the decider. She converted all five of her break points she converted in the match.

Navarro then found herself two match points down in the ninth game of the third set but managed to save both to force a tie-break where she cruised home in the end averting the scare.

She will now face Donna Vekic, the no.19 seed next. Cirstea had previously seen off the rising Aussie Maya Joint 6-2, 7-5 in the round before and will be kicking herself that she couldn't find a way through from a winning position.

But Navarro's trademark humour came out post match as she joked that outside of her calm and collected assassin like demeanour on court comes a more angrier side off it as she joked that she starts throwing hands in the locker room.

“Honestly one of the best atmospheres I’ve played in. Just trying to get the best out of myself on my worst day," siad Navarro.

"Yeah no none of my team is safe after my matches, I just go back there and start throwing hands. That's what you guys don't see. I keep it cool, calm and collected for you guys."
