Nearly one month without tennis did not affect
Danielle Collins who was excellent against Caroline Garcia begging her 6-2 7-6(4).
Collins played a fabulous match taking the ball early in most rallies and setting the tone. When it worked spectacularly she became even more confident in her tennis and finished off a close second set in the tiebreak.
After the match, Collins praised her opponents for what she's been able to do this year:
"Caro has been playing incredible this year, a lot of great achievements especially over the summer and a lot of matches under her belt playing big tennis, first-strike, hitting really good serves and returns, taking the ball early and trying to end the point really quickly, not giving much rhythm. I knew that going in, and I just had to go out and beat her to the punch as much as possible."
Up next, Collins will take this year's Roland Garros semi-finalist
Martina Trevisan who defeated Osorio in the first round 6-3 6-4:
"I really have loved watching her play. I love her competitiveness and I love the 'Come on's. I do a lot of that myself, so I think it's going to be a really competitive match and a fun one."
