Coco Gauff retired from her match in Cincinnati yesterday due to a rolled ankle but she reassured fans that she's okay.
Gauff looked in control of her match against Marie Bouzkova being up 5-3 but the American rolled her ankle pretty badly in that game. She would lose that game and a couple of more after that dropping the first set. After losing her serve at the start of the 2nd set Gauff opted to retire from the match as she didn't want to make the injury worse.
She did not speak after the match but took to social media to reassure fans that it is likely a minor sprain. Ideally, there would be no sprain with the US Open so close but Gauff wrote that everything will heal soon so fans are hopeful:
"I promise I am OK! I have been told it is most likely a really minor sprain so everything should be healed very soon. I'll see you soon.
It's an important US Open for Gauff who recently became world number one in doubles and aims for both titles in front of her native crowd.
