🗣️ "I use to be very shy, but playing tennis & beating the boys brought me a lot of confidence" @EmmaRaducanu sat down to chat with some students studying at Wolverley Secondary School over the summer #LTAYouth
Emma Raducanu became a very good tennis player when she grew up but it was not always so as she revealed that she was quite shy as a young girl.
Raducanu started playing tennis at a young age and like most, she had her ups and downs. Early on in her career, Raducanu was quite shy on the court without much confidence. She did however gain a lot of confidence by beating boys and coming back to win matches. It's something that helped her win her maiden US Open as a qualifier as she never stopped believing she could do it.
All of this was said by Raducanu during a recent chat with students from Wolverley Secondary School. She said:
"I used to be really shy as a young girl and playing tennis and beating the boys and coming back when I was losing, that just brought me a lot of confidence. Yeah, I can say that I'm definitely more comfortable and outgoing now than I was when I was younger, and I think tennis has brought me that."
