Maria Timofeeva falls to the ground as she pulls off the comeback of her life against Caroline Wozniacki. 1-6, 0-2 down. 20 years old, but she looks like she’s been here before. Sensational. ❤️
After suffering a second round loss at the 2024 Australian Open, Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki has been forced to consider making changes to her schedule in the near future.
The 2018 champion looked good in her first round win over 20th seed Magda Linette, but fell in three sets to the unseeded Maria Timofeeva in the next round. Wozniacki had not anticipated losing at such an early stage in the tournament, and therefore finds herself re-evaluating her future plans.
Considering she has a family and two small children, the former World No.1 was hoping to take a lighter schedule at the start of the year and skip the upcoming events in the Middle East. However, following her loss to Timofeeva, a match Wozniacki believes she should have won, the Dane is considering participating in more events.
"I was planning on being here for a while longer, so honestly I don't know right now." said the 33-year old. "I need to just kind of swallow this loss and then kind of go from there, see how I feel, what I want to do. Yeah, honestly, I don't know right now."
With two events occurring next month in the Middle East, in Dubai and Doha, Wozniacki will have two opportunities to get more matches under he belt.
