Former World No.2 Iga Swiatek resumed her quest to defend her title at the Qatar Open, and the Polish star was involved in a thrilling match that was one for the history books.

The defending champion took on familiar foe Linda Noskova in the round of 16, rallying from a set down to record a 6-7(1) 6-4 6-4 victory. Despite a spirited attempt from her Czech opponent, Swiatek was able to power through as her fighting spirit and determination overcame Noskova's efforts.

Slugfest between the duo sets new Doha record

Both athletes are very familiar with each other, as Noskova stunned the former World No.1 at the 2024 Australian Open. Swiatek would get her revenge a few months later at Indian Wells, and again at the Miami Open. However, the encounter in Miami would go to three sets, with Swiatek again coming back from behind to secure the victory.

Their showdown in Doha was no different, as both ladies left it all on the court. With each athlete hitting winners at will, there ended up being a total of 75 winners combined between both players. This is the most combined winners in a match at the 2025 Qatar Open, and it comes as no surprise based on the style and quality of play from both players.

Awaiting Swiatek in the quarterfinals is former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, with fans looking forward to a rematch from last year's Doha final.
