After successfully defending his Australian Open title this year, Italian Jannik Sinner looks unstoppable. This has led Corrado Barazzutti, coach of Sinner's compatriot Lorenzo Musetti, to point out what rising tennis stars need to do in order to take down the World No.1.

Sinner has been the most consistent player on the ATP Tour over the past 12 months. The 23-year old won two Grand Slam titles in 2024, in addition to the year-ending ATP Finals. Furthermore, he reached at least the quarterfinals of every tournament he entered, and began the 2024 season by defending his Australian Open crown.

Barazzutti issues warning to Sinner's peers

In an interview with La Nacion, Barazzutti stated he believes Sinner's level of play is higher than everyone else at the moment.

"At the moment, he’s an alien," said Barazzutti. "He’s not good, he’s great! He plays at the level of a young Djokovic, a young Nadal, a young Federer.
“The problem is that the other players are not at his level. [Carlos] Alcaraz, when he plays well, is the only one who can compete against Sinner, who has no ups and downs; that is his strength. He wins even when he doesn’t play well. He plays the best tennis in the world.
"[Daniil] Medvedev and [Stefanos] Tsitsipas are not playing as well anymore. We are waiting for [Holger] Rune, he is young. Djokovic is leaving. We will see if the young players reach Sinner’s level; if they don’t, Jannik will win from now on… He has a very strong mind."

Barazzutti joined Musetti’s team on a part-time basis in 2024. The World No.16 ended the year with a Wimbledon semifinal appearance, in addition to capturing the Bronze medal at the Olympic Games.
