Bianca Andreescu is making a habit of coming back from behind to win matches as she did once more at the
US Open beating Golubic 7-5 4-6 7-5.
The Canadian player trailed in all three sets against Golubic but came back twice to win both the 1st and 3rd winning the match overall. It's becoming somewhat of a trademark for Andreescu who is playing a lot of long and physical matches due to her inconsistent play. Some of it has to do with the lack of matches generally and she admitted as much after the match:
"I definitely haven't had a lot of matches in but I feel very comfortable playing on this court. I'm able to go back to the feelings that I had in 2019 and that confidence a little bit more than other tournaments, maybe it's the court, the tournament, all of that."
It was a very close match and Andreescu had to do several things in order to pull out the win. She admitted giving her all because she needed it:
"I channelled a lot in the match and honestly, it was super, super close. It really came down to a couple of points. I just fought the hardest, honestly. It could have gone both ways."
Andreescu also explained that she did a lot of thinking during this season which did not benefit her at all. She decided to just keep it simple saying:
"Over the last couple of months, I've really had to figure out what works best for me and what doesn't. I've been feeling like I'm too caught up in my head with different things. I told myself, let's just keep it simple: cross-court, serve body-tee and just push her back, and when I had the opportunity, come to the net."
