After her 2024 season was hindered by various injuries, British tennis star Emma Raducanu is looking to avoid a repeat performance next year as it has been revealed she is in talks with Yutaka Nakamura, former fitness trainer of five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova.
Nakamura worked with Sharapova during the Russian's stellar career, helping her sustain her form while at the top of the game. Additionally, he has also worked with four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka and is one of the most respected physical trainers in the world of sports.

Raducanu looking to invest in fitness as 2025 season approaches

The former World No.10 has had a rollercoaster career, despite being just 21 years old. Raducanu burst onto the scene after winning the 2021 US Open title as a qualifier. However, she has since dropped in the rankings, due to injuries and lack of fitness that have seen her retire during several matches over her short time on the WTA tour.
The British star showed some flashes of her potential this season, improving her ranking from a lowly World No.301 in January to her current position of No.58. However, she was forced to retire from the Asian swing due to a lingering foot injury, competing in just one of her four planned events.
Although the working relationship between Raducanu and Nakamura has not been announced, the former US Open champion's intentions are clear as she aims to improve her fitness next season.
