Anisimova swats return.
Amanda Anisimova is set to play in Rome it seems over the next week but whether or not she does is another matter after she decided to take time out to train in Greece and complete her injury rehab.
Anisimova decided not to play Madrid this past week, this was despite the fact that she was in the city for the Laureus Sports Awards. But she promptly pulled out of the tournament.
"Training and rehabbing has been going well. incredible week @tatoiclub one of the nicest clubs I’ve ever been to, thank you for having me, I will be coming back," she wrote on Instagram.
But through Instagram stories it was duly noted that she was still there in Greece and wasn't yet in Rome where she would due to be playing mid week. So either it will be a rapid dash to Rome or she will be withdrawing in the coming days.

Top names return

Most of the top names who have been missing from action will be involved in Rome with Karolina Muchova for instance who withdrew after reaching the Stuttgart final, Emma Raducanu will also play for the first time in many months ironically after she last lost to Anisimova in Indian Wells.
She was seen practicing with Eva Lys in Rome but ironically Anisimova isn't yet back. The American cited a wrist injury as the reason why she wasn't playing Madrid.
But she has struggled with injury since earlier in the clay court season as far back as Charleston. “Lately I’ve been using a hyperbaric chamber because it’s supposed to speed up the healing process. That’s been the only thing I’ve been able to do because I’m told to rest," she told Elite Daily.
"I like to cool down straightaway. In the gym, I use a bike, do some stretching and breathing. Then I’ll always go in the ice bath to prevent any soreness. Most of the time it’s really hot, so that’s also a good way to cool down. Afterward I shower, eat, and do some treatment with my physical therapist. We always have to train or either play a match again the next day, so it’s quite back-to-back," the former world No. 3 explained.
