Petra Kvitova enjoyed an injury-ridden year but the struggles came to an end at Eastbourne International where she won her first trophy of the year.
Speaking about hte triumph to WTA, Kvitova explained:
"I feel great. I enjoyed it today for sure. Overall the whole match was pretty good tennis, I think. I started very well and just kept going. The whole match I was trying to push myself, especially in my service games."
Asked about finally winning Eastbourne after falling up short in 2021, Kvitova said:
"What does it mean? Finally I have it, I would say. I was pretty close in 2011 but I didn't make it. It's beautiful to have a title. It means something big is coming."
Speaking about her expectations for Wimbledon, Kvitova said:
"I think it will not change that much of my expectations. I didn't have any expectations, even coming to Eastbourne or Wimbledon. I think it will change a little bit my feelings, which is the better way because until this time the feelings were not really great. That will be really important for me to feel a little bit more that I can do it again, that I can fight and have a good result over there."
She finished off with:
"On the other hand, I think it's a totally different tournament. Definitely, I think I will go match by match and not think overall about it like I did all week here. So I'm not looking too much ahead. "
