Spanish tennis star
Paula Badosa has criticised court
number six of the
Australian Open 2024 for being ‘noisy and loud’.
The first Grand Slam of the year is already underway where
players from all over the world are showcasing their talent and battling it out
to secure the ultimate prize.
The 26-year-old, who made a comeback to professional tennis
after a lengthy break because of a back injury, produced an impressive
performance as she defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the second round of the
Australian Open in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-3 on Wednesday.
Badosa, while talking to the media after the match, was
being critical of the court number six in Melbourne for being too ‘noisy and loud’.
“I’ve played both of my matches there [on court 6], it’s
very noisy and loud,” she said. “It’s a little bit tough to concentrate and
it’s not very comfortable for the players to play there. Even during the
points, it’s quite noisy. I don’t know if it’s going to work in the future.”
Badosa was very
impressive in the first round of the Australian Open 2024 where she defeated
America’s Taylor Townsend in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-3. The former
world number two will now face Amanda Anisimova in the round of 32 clash on
Friday.
