American tennis star Jessica Pegula produced some superb tennis during the North American hard court swing, a period that saw her climb back into the Top 5 on the WTA Rankings for a record 100 career weeks.
The Buffalo native won 18 of her last 22 matches, a run that saw her retain her WTA 1000 title in Toronto. Additionally, she reached her maiden Grand Slam singles final at the 2024 US Open, losing to Aryna Sabalenka in a close final. Following her impressive result as Flushing Meadows, Pegula climbed back into the Top 5, rising from World No.6 to World No.3.

Pegula has been a staple in the Top 5 for over two years

The 30-year old first broke into the Top 5 on September 12th, 2022, after the US Open that year. Subsequently, she has now spent 100 of the 110 weeks since then inside the Top 5. Pegula's consistency has seen her drop outside the Top 5 for a very brief period of time, she spent two weeks at No. 6 in October of 2022, and another eight weeks at No. 6 this past summer.
Pegula has spent 43 weeks at No. 5, 17 weeks at No. 4 (including this week) and 40 weeks at No. 3. The top-ranked American has finished the last two years in the Top 5, as well, finishing as World No.3 in 2022 and World No.5 in 2023. She will be one of the competitors at this year's WTA Finals, where she finished runner-up to Iga Swiatek at last year's elite event.
