The Japan Open also known as the Japan Championships or Japan Women's Open will take place between October 14-20 and the prize money is set.
The first iteration of the tournament was held in 2009 in Osaka and has moved through different locations throughout the years and was brought back to Osaka in 2023. Ashlyn Krueger is the defending champion. Sam Stosur won this title three times in 2009, 2013 and 2014 and is the only woman to win it more than once.
Bianca Andreescu will headline the tournament with many of the main names entered either withdrawing or playing Ningbo instead. This has led to Leylah Fernandez for instance deciding against playing and a big chance for a player to win through. The champion will receive $35,250, the winner will also receive 250 ranking points for their efforts. The runner-up claims $20,830 and 163 ranking points.
