Jessica Pegula is 'possibly' set to miss Roland Garros after her latest injury setback she admitted on Monday.after confirming in a quick update that she was missing Rome.
Pegula last played at the Billie Jean King Cup for the USA where her and Emma Navarro who was also injured seemingly had a tough time disposing of the unknown Belgians. She then decided to withdraw from Stuttgart but not seemingly due to any injury concerns.
The American said that the turnaround was thus that she decided against the trip. But the World No.5 has not been seen on the court since and withdrew from both Rome and Madrid in short order. She has had a fairly stop start season anyway especially given that she in the past has been the so-called WTA Queen of Consistency. It has not been consistent at all.
From changing her coach, being injured and having stomach flu mid tournament earlier in the season, it has not been the ideal 2024 so far. It also likely confirms that she will not play Strasbourg in a few weeks either before Roland Garros. She wrote on Instagram that she was 'possibly' set to miss Roland Garros and is back in training but at a 'snails pace' likely being urged to have caution before jumping straight back in. The likelihood is that she will return now in the grass court season. Libema Open in s'Hertogenbosch is her likely first stop with the American confirmed for the opener.
