Coco Gauff's burgeoning partnership with
Jessica Pegula was always going to conclude during 2024 with both focusing more on singles going forward. But it. seems we won't see neither team with each other until at the very earliest, Roland Garros again.
Gauff has continued to play as of late, but the same cannot be said for Pegula who has struggled with injury and has already withdrawn from Rome next week. The latter American will play Strasbourg in the week before Roland Garros, but even that is not certain.
After stating that Stuttgart wasn't going to happen for her due to a tight turnaround, she suffered a setback while home in the States injury wise and had to withdraw from Madrid and now Rome in the weeks that follow. This will give her hardly any preparation for the French Open no mind at Rome.
But Gauff has been cycling through partners as of late and successful ones in doubles at that with Taylor Townsend who has enjoyed success for instance with Leylah Fernandez playing with Gauff in Madrid. Now it is the turn of Canadian, Erin Routliffe to team with the American in Rome. It seems that despite Pegula not playing as of late, the desire is very much still there to play doubles from Gauff.
