The Ostrava Open enters it's final stretch with the semifinals due on Saturday and featuring a strong two-match schedule of play.
The Ostrava Open semifinals will go ahead on Saturday with the schedule of play featuring two strong matches. The programme will kick off at 14:00 CET with a match between Sakkari and Azarenka. It will be the first time these two players meet each other on the court. Both of them have been playing good tennis this week but Azarenka has been standing out. She is back to her North American form which has been superb. Sakkari almost lost yesterday against Jabeur before the Tunisian completely combusted. The odds heavily favour Azarenka and judging by what we saw so far it seems justified. Whatever happens, the crowd will enjoy a very good match.
After that match ends we will see the second semifinal match. It will be Jennifer Brady vs Aryna Sabalenka. Brady has been playing very good tennis ever since her US Open run. Yesterday she had some difficulties against Kudermetova but she overcame them to win the match. Her struggles are minuscule compared to what Sabalenka went through today. She lost the opening set against Sorribes Tormo 6-0 and was down 4-0 in the 2nd one. She rallied back to win the 2nd set 6-4 and the final one 6-0. A bizarre match and a fascinating comeback, even more, impressive than the one against Gauff. The odds favour Brady which is justified but the luck that Sabalenka has following her in Ostrava might carry her to another victory.
