Emma Raducanu is not playing as expected in 2022 with the British player suffering from multiple injuries this year alone along with a retirement not long ago due to an injury as well.
Her most recent loss comes to Petra Martic in Indian Wells and it's a match she should have won. Raducanu was up 5-4 in the final set and served for the match at 5-4 but lost her serve and the next two games as well to lose the match. Speaking after the match she said:
"I think it's just part of not playing and having so much stop-start and having five, six days to prepare for matches and then playing at that intensity. It was a tough one not being able to serve full out so I was having to work so hard just to hold. I've just got to get stronger. I've had it (stiff back) for the last few days, just a product of training hard and probably the last match was pretty intense too and it didn't settle down."
She further added:
"When you are crossing your fingers to hold serve every time, it's tough. I couldn't really drive up and I was kind of struggling to turn and reach. The margins were so small."
Her next event will be the Miami Masters and she expects to be fully fir for it. It begins next week upon the conclusion of the Indian Wells Masters.
