17-0 🤟 @RafaelNadal stays unbeaten this season with a 7-5 6-3 win over Evans! He awaits Shapovalov or Opelka in R4! #IndianWells
Rafael Nadal overcame a slow start against Dan Evans 7-5 6-3 to secure himself another match in the next round at the BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells.
It was a slow start by Nadal who needed time to adjust to Evans and his playstyle as it gave him quite a bit of trouble early on. Nadal was missing a bit early on and Evans was able to keep his lead for the better part of the first set. Eventually, Nadal did find a way to battle back and that started a run by the Spaniard that concluded with him winning the opening set with 7-5.
The 2nd set featured a strong opening by Nadal as he took an early break. The Brit was not able to cover the court well enough who painted a pretty picture on the court moving Evans left and right. Eventually, the Brit settled a bit and started winning games again but by that time Nadal had a lead and did not even try that much.
He focused on his own play and finished off the match with 6-3. Nadal's confidence is increasing with every match and his comfort level as well. He looks really good and is certainly the favourite for the event after Medvedev crashed out earlier. He is 17-0 on the year.
