Anhelina Kalinina achieved the biggest win over her career by beating Kudermetova at the Rome Open booking the final of the competition.
Kalinina hasn't been having a really strong season so far but the Ukranian managed to find a strong level here and take down a few good opponents en route to the final of the event. The win over Kudermetova came after she played the longest WTA match this year against Beatriz Haddad Maia.
It's been a really impressive run but to put into context what she did, she's the lowest-ranked player since 1985 to reach the final of the Rome Open. She's currently ranked number 47 in the world and that's the lowest a Rome Open finalist has been ranked since 1985. Truly a remarkable run.
