Yet another Spaniard has fallen in Madrid with Garbine Muguruza falling to Anhelina Kalinina in straight sets 6-3 6-0.
It's not been a very good event for Spanish tennis as both now Muguruza and Badosa are out of the event. Both suffered shocking defeats as well with neither putting up a very good effort. Muguruza was completely overwhelmed by her opponent today as Kalinina never lost control of the match. She took an early 3-1 lead and never looked back.
The Ukrainian has been stellar from the baseline attacking Muguruza fairly early in rallies and the Spaniard did not know how to handle it all. SHe did not serve well either so it was a completely terrible experience for her that got even worse in the 2nd set when she started to struggle with an apparent injury as well. She took an MTO but things did not get any better and Kalinina cruised to a 2nd set bagel.
