A couple of unexpected results in San Jose will have
Daria Kasatkina take on Shelby Rogers in the
Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic.
In the first match native, Shelby Rogers got the better of Veronika Kudermetova who played really well up until this point. The Russian was unable to control her groundstrokes as well as she did in the previous match and Rogers was able to use that to her advantage and move on to the final.
The 2nd semifinal was much more interesting to tennis fans as Daria Kasatkina took on
Paula Badosa. It's the 3rd time they are playing this year and for the 2nd time, Kasatkina proved better. The Russian is having a breakout year so far and she'll make her return to the top 10 if she wins the final.
Kasatkina is a matchup problem for Badosa as the Russian simply absorbs that aggression well forcing Badosa to move around the court. She doesn't like that and once again it proved to be too uncomfortable for her to overcome. It was a rather straightforward win for the Russian 6-2 6-4 and she moves on to the final.
