Former top 10 player Kiki Bertens is enjoying retirement and recently she became a mother announcing the news on social media.
Bertens announced the birth of son Mats on Tuesday with husband Remko de Rijke. The former world No. 4, who first made her pregnancy public last fall, was flooded with congratulatory messages from across the tennis world, including Anett Kontaveit, Carla Suárez Navarro, and Sorana Cirstea.
Bertens played her final matches at the Tokyo Olympics last summer and made her retirement official shortly thereafter. The 30-year-old Dutch star enjoyed an impressive stretch of success in her late 20s with WTA 1000 victories in Madrid and Cincinnati, along with a run to the WTA Finals semifinals.
