Also the runner-up from Acapulco, Leylah Fernandez got into the next round after defeating Stefanie Voegele. Tamara Zidansek stunned the seventh-seeded Victoria Azarenka when the Slovenian defeated former world number 1, 6-2, 6-2.

The highly-anticipated matchup between Kim Clijsters and Johanna Konta ended sadly for the Belgian once again. Clijsters lost also in her second comeback match and she will need to wait for her first victory since her comeback.
