Petra Kvitova played a good and efficient match which saw her defeat Laura Siegemund in just over one hour to reach the
Roland Garros semifinal.
Petra Kvitova advanced to the Roland Garros semifinal after a strong 77-minute performance which saw her defeat Laura Siegemund 6-3 6-3. The first set which saw only one break was won by Kvitova thanks to her stellar serving which saw her hit 6 aces which played a significant part of her impressive 1st service winning record which stood at 93 % in the opening set. She played well from the baseline as well, attacking Siegemund whenever she had a chance. She made few mistakes (5) and hit three times as many winners (14) en route to a strong 6-3 opening set.
She opened the 2nd set in similar fashion breaking Siegemund immediately in the first game taking a 2-0 lead. Laura fought back to make it 2-2 but soon called for a medical timeout. Her play didn't seem to hampered by whatever discomfort she felt but she wasn't up to her level of the previous rounds either. Prior to the medical timeout, she lost her serve but after the medical, she played a strong game to bring the result back to 3-3.
Unfortunately, her serving woes continued in the next game which Kvitova won but this time Siegemund could not break Kvitova back so the 2nd set score stood at 5-3. Siegemund tried to be aggressive in the 2nd set but she made too many mistakes (16) and played very poorly on her 2nd serve winning less than a third of points on it. Kvitova won the next game as well winning the final set 6-3.
