Leylah Fernandez lived one of her dreams during the 2024
Canadian Open, getting to play alongside sister Bianca in the doubles at the WTA 1000 tournament. Although the pair fell in the semifinals, Fernandez commemorated their successful week by posting some wholesome images from their childhood.
The Fernandez sisters looked impressive in their opening round match, defeating the experienced team of Luisa Stefani and Demi Schuurs in the first round. After overcoming a three-set challenge from Catherine Harrison and Ashlyn Kruger, they dispatched of another veteran pair in defeating Zhang Shuai and Kristina Mladenovic in the quarterfinals.

Although the pair fell to the team of Erin Routliffe and Gabriella Dabrowski in the semifinals, Fernandez was extremely proud of what she and her sister had achieved. She took to Instagram to share the story of how she and younger sister Bianca had progressed on the WTA tour, capturing their progress from the early days till the current points in their career.

Leylah Fernandez rose to stardom by finishing runner-up at the 2021 US Open, losing to Great Britain's Emma Raducanu. The 21-year old has won three WTA singles titles, and reached a career-high ranking of World No.13. Younger sister Bianca is yet to experience much success on the WTA circuit, but has seen her doubles ranking rise over 700 spots following her semifinal showing at the Canadian Open.
