Marketa Vondrousova dumps out second seed Ons Jabeur at Australian Open

Marketa Vondrousova has battled injuries for the last two seasons after the highest of highs in reaching the French Open in 2019 but has returned to some of her brilliant best dumping out Ons Jabeur at the 2023 Australian Open.

Vondrousova sealed two out of the three sets in dominant fashion in a 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 win over the second seed who was one of the favourites for the tournament and now goes out devastated.

The Czech ace generated 16 break point opportunities in the tie breaking eight times and forcing 50 unforced errors out of Jabeur in victory.

Next up is her compatriot and seen as potentially the future in Linda Fruhvirtova who saw off Kimberley Birrell 6-3, 6-2 earlier today and in an unbalanced draw, it brings up a big opportunity.
