Marta Kostyuk is the latest name from the women's field at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games to pull out citing a shoulder injury as the reason.
Kostyuk who has reached a career high of 65th in the WTA rankings currently in a breakout year for the 19-year-old who has reached the fourth round at the French Open.
This year has also included a run to the semi-finals in Istanbul losing to Sorana Cirstea and it seems to be only an upward trajectory for the Ukranian but her plans will not include Tokyo.
She has partnered recently on tour with Elina Svitolina in doubles likely ahead of the Olympic Games but this will not now occur with Dayana Yastremska who recently returned after her doping ban was rescinded taking her place in the doubles' field.
