Bethany Mattek-Sands and
Iga Swiatek are through to the
Roland Garros finals where they will face Krejcikova and Siniakova.
Iga Swiatek is once again through to the Roland Garros final but this time around it's the doubles finals together with Bethany Mattek-Sands. The duo have played a great doubles event that included one memorable victory coming back from 1-5 down in the final set. In the semifinal, they bested Begu and Podoroska 6-3 6-4.
For Mattek-Sands it's the 3rd final as she reached the finals in 2015 and 2017 winning both times. For Swiatek, this is her first doubles grand slam finals but winning in Paris is not foreign to her. They will face the 2nd seeds Krejcikova and Siniakova, major winners themselves.
The Czech duo were champions in 2018 at the
French Open as well and they know how to do it. The American-Polish duo is named Tek Tek Boom because of their aggressive playstyles as well as surnames that end in a 'tek'. After their match, Mattek-Sands explained how the pairing came to be.
She said:
"The partner I was supposed to play with wasn't going to play Miami. It was coming down the wire and I was going down the ranking list thinking who haven't I asked. And I was like Iga, that would be fun. So I got her number from WTA and asked her. That is how the partnership came to be."
