The first semi-final is set up at the Prague Open with the number three seed Elise Mertens set to take on Kristyna Pliskova tomorrow.
Pliskova was first through without having to play much tennis at all, she was 5-2 up against Ana Bogdan who then retired in what looked to be a pre-existing leg injury which she pulled as she chased down a drop shot.
This gave an route through for the 2017 runner-up who is in semi-final action with Lucie Hradecka as of writing against Arantxa Rus and Tamara Zidansek in the Women's Doubles; so could it be double glory?
Mertens will aim to make sure that is not the case after defeating Genie Bouchard who ended her impressive week with a good showing despite defeat; as she showed some of her best form in some time.
It ended 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in favour of the Belgian who took a break in the first set to edge through but Bouchard double broke in the second and looked good for the remainder of the match but was just edged past in three sets by the World No.23.
The Canadian if she won would have made it to Roland Garros Qualifying by right but will likely have to ask for a wildcard or wait on withdrawals to be involved which could be likely given the amount of players skipping the US Open due to Coronavirus, it could be the same scenario in Paris.
