Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider are set to compete together all year in doubles. The young Russian duo will partner up in all Grand Slams and WTA 1000 tournaments of the season. There are 10 WTA 1000 tournaments in a year plus the four Grand Slams. The Russian pair has already shown their worth as a duo, despite the fact that they have hardly played together on the Tour.

At the last Olympic Games, they partnered for the first time and advanced to the final of Paris 2024. They defeated the 5th seeded duo of Gabriela Dabrowski and Leylah Fernandez on their way, and in the quarterfinals, they defeated the defending champions Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, who as a pair have won seven Grand Slam titles.

In the semifinals, they defeated the 8th seeded Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo but couldn't get the gold after losing in the final to Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani.

Russian duo to team up for full season

According to Forbes Russia, Shnaider recently confirmed that she will partner with Andreeva in a long-term partnership throughout 2025: "The following year, Mirra and I agreed to play together in all Grand Slam tournaments and in all Masters."

They only have one previous record playing as a duo on the WTA Tour, back in the China Open. They comfortably defeated the Japanese duo Hozuymi/Aoyama and then the Ukrainians Kostyuk/Kichenok. Their journey ended in the quarterfinals against Sofia Kenin and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

17-year-old Andreeva is currently world No. 16 in the singles ranking and won her first title at the WTA 250 Iasi Open. On the other hand, Shanider (20 years old) is ranked world No. 13 after winning four titles in the season (1 WTA 500 and three WTA 250). In terms of titles, she tied for second place this year with Aryna Sabalenka and is only behind Aryna Sabalenka.

In the doubles ranking, Shnaider finished the 2024 season at world No. 50, while Andreeva at world No. 68, although neither has put too much emphasis on their doubles career so far.
