With the 2023 WTA season in the rearview mirror, the winners of several WTA Awards have been announced as the superstars wrap up their vacation and prepare for the upcoming season.
The WTA Awards are handed out annually, with different categories present. The tennis governing body uses these awards to honor standout performers during the season, with categories recognizing the best players, tournaments and even coaches of the year.
Andreeva enjoys huge leap in rankings to win Newcomer of the Year

Mirra Andreeva took home WTA Newcomer of the Year, following an incredible season that saw her rise in rankings from World No.405 to No.46 between 2022 and 2023. The 16-year old reached the round of 16 at Madrid, before making the third round at Roland Garros and fourth round at Wimbledon.
Elena Svitolina ran away with WTA Comeback Player of the Year, returning to action in April 2023 after taking over a year off to give birth to her first child. The Ukrainian won her 17th career title in Strasbourg a month after her return, and defeated World No.1 Iga Swiatek en route to a semifinal appearance at Wimbledon.
China's
Zheng Qinwen won the WTA Most Improved Player of the Year, as she won her first WTA title in Palermo this June. Additionally, the Chinese star reached the US Open quarterfinals, before closing out the year by winning the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai.
