Muguruza and Jabeur cruise at the US Open

Garbine Muguruza and Ons Jabeur are the first players to win on day 3 of the US Open with both of them cruising past their opponents with ease.

Muguruza was the first player to step onto the court as it was the only match that began at 17:00 CET due to the rain. From the start, Muguruza asserted herself as the more dominant and better player quickly taking an early break. Petkovic battled in the match but she simply did not possess the game to endanger Muguruza too much.

The Spaniard did not serve as well but it did not matter as she was able to win the first set with 6-4. Petkovic tried to counter with more aggression but she made to many errors and Muguruza was able to close it out with 6-2 once more.

Joining her in the 2nd round will Ons Jabeur who utterly destroyed Maria Camila Osorio Serrano 6-1 6-0. The young Colombian literally did not have an answer hitting one error after another. Jabeur employed a variety of shots with Osorio Serrano not being able to find any rhythm.

A smashing win for Jabeur who only needed 55 minutes to move on at the US Open.
