Several tennis stars have spoken out on the controversy surrounding Novak Djokovic, with WTA star Garbine Muguruza being the latest to voice her opinion on the matter.
The two-time Grand Slam champion was questioned on Djokovic's detention at a press conference before the Sydney Tennis Classic tournament, to which she responded by saying it could have been avoided and contributed nothing to the sport.
“It’s a bit of a show what is happening," said the 2020 Australian Open runner-up. "Sooner or later we all have to get vaccinated so I don’t know why so much controversy, it’s a show that doesn’t benefit tennis at all.”
The 28-year old was then asked about her vaccination status, to which she gave an earnest response.
“I am vaccinated and I have no problem saying it," revealed Muguruza. "The truth is to get into a little dangerous grass, but I am vaccinated and happy to do it, I don’t see why you have to do it differently."
