Andy Murray, Benoit Paire and Karolina Pliskova are the first winners of Day 2 of the 2020 Virtual Madrid Open.
On Tuesday, we'll see a bit fewer games from the
Virtual Madrid Open than we previously expected.
Karen Khachanov and Dominic Thiem had to withdraw from the tournament and therefore their games have been forfeited. However, there was no lack of excitement in the opening games of Day 2 as Murray, Paire and Pliskova showed real class in their matches.
In the opening game of the evening,
Andy Murray faced
Rafael Nadal. Andy showed his experience from video games when he defeated Nadal 3-0 without major difficulties.
After that, Rafa played another game when he faced
Benoit Paire. The Spaniard got 1 game in this match, however, that was not enough against the Frenchman. Paire triumphed 3-1 and if he defeated Shapovalov in the evening, he will be the second quarterfinalist from Group 1.
In women's part of the draw, Karolina Pliskova kicked-off the day with a victory over Carla Suarez Navarro. It was the first victory of the tournament for the Czech as she lost to
Fiona Ferro previously.
And it was the young French player that appeared in another match against Suarez Navarro. Ferro showed great gaming skills by defeating the Spaniard 3-0 to get her second victory of the group stage.
