Naomi Osaka
gave her verdict on whether a fan could take a game in a match against
professional players. The Japanese player responded to a quick interview for
social media with Broadcast Boys during her participation in the
Miami Open.
The 4-times
Grand Slam champion is gradually finding her form and ended the Sunshine Double
by exiting in the third round in both Indian Wells and Miami, with a record of
four wins and two losses. Additionally, she achieved two victories against
top-15 players: Liudmila Samsonova (No. 14) in Indian Wells and Elina Svitolina
(No. 15) in Miami.
Osaka was
one of the standout stars in both tournaments, despite not even being in the
WTA Ranking until a few months ago. Her start to the season has allowed her to
accumulate points rapidly, and she has already re-entered the top 200 with just
a handful of tournaments.
While at
the Miami Open, Osaka answered a fun interview where she was asked about the
chances an amateur fan has of competing with a professional tennis player.
“71% of fans
thinks they can take a game off a professional player, is this delusional or
accurate?,
“Disrepectful,”
Naomi Osaka responded with a smile.
The former
world No. 1 will now take a few weeks away from competition, and her return
will be at the WTA 1000 Madrid Open for the clay season.
